The ASEAN Committee in Santiago (ACS) held a virtual meeting on 27 January 2021, chaired by Vietnam as ACS Pro-Tempore Chair. The meeting discussed ACS activities under its chairmanship for the period August 2020 to January 2021; raised two pending activities to be pursued and saw the handover of the ACS Chair from Vietnam to Indonesia.

ASEAN Ambassadors noted the challenges of the pandemic while acknowledging the successful conduct of the ASEAN Day virtual celebration, meetings with DIrepac, business seminar and dialogue with Professor Rodrigo, all held virtually.

The ACS meeting was attended by the Ambassadors of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the CDA of Thailand together with representatives of the ACS Working Group.

Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza together with Cultural Officer Jeffry D. Aranda virtually met with Filipinas (married to Chilean and other expatriates) on 25 January 2021. The introductory meeting allowed the Embassy to explore possible collaborations with the Escuela de la Republica de Filipinas and the ladies´ group as well as discuss possible activities for the 75th Anniversary of Philippine-Chile Diplomatic Relations. Among those who joined from the community meeting were Ariane Bobillo, April Descallar, Arlene Quinco, Nates Lanuza, Rhona Borne and their children.

Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza joined the Diplomatic Corps and representatives of International Organizations in Chile in a virtual Diplomatic Corps Meeting arranged by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 19 January 2021. The Ministry was represented by Minister Andres Allamand and Undersecretaries Carolina Valdivia and Rodrigo Yañez. President Sebastian Piñera delivered the traditional greetings while Monsignor Alberto Ortega spoke on behalf of the diplomatic corps. END
