ONEMI TALKS ON DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

(Santiago, 16 September 2019) The Philippine Embassy collaborated with Oficina Nacional de Emergencia del Ministerio del Interior, Chile (ONEMI) in conducting a talk on disaster preparedness on 14 September 2019 at the Embassy chancery. Mr. Jean Marie Walker, Chief of Risk Reduction briefed the Embassy Staff, Filipino Community Leaders and its members on ONEMI and how to respond to earthquakes and other natural disasters in Chile.
After the informative talk, Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza, presented a certificate of appreciation and token from the Philippines to Mr. Walker, which was also followed by the simple salu-salu of Filipino dishes. END.
PHILIPPINE EMBASSY CONDUCTS FINANCIAL LITERACY TALK FOR OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS IN SANTIAGO

(Santiago, 14 September 2019) – Ambassador Daza gave a talk on Financial Literacy to a group of FilCom Coordinators composed mostly of women.
The Ambassador reminded the participants to be more frugal in spending their hard-earned income, and to save for the future. She presented various schemes and emphasized the values of prioritizing, planning, budgeting and saving.
The Financial Literacy Talk forms part of a series of lectures planned by the Embassy for the Filipino Community in Santiago.END
THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY JOINS ESCUELA DE LAS FILIPINAS´ CELEBRATION OF FIESTAS PATRIAS 2019

The Philippine Embassy attended the celebration of 209th year of independence of Chile at Escuela de las Filipinas, Los Espejos, Santiago on 12 September 2019. Pupils and teachers from various grade levels presented traditional dances from different regions of Chile. The school also had a display of traditional food such as empanada, anticucho and cumpleto. Escuela de las Filipinas acknowledged that this year’s celebration was made more special with the attendance of the Embassy. END

Daza (right) meets with Chilean Senator and former Minister of Foreign Affairs José Miguel Insulza to foster PHL-CHL bilateral relations and discuss the formation of a Parliamentary Friendship Group between Filipino and Chilean legislators. Senator Insulza is the current Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
