(Santiago, 25 May 2019) – The Philippine Embassy celebrated the National Heritage Month on May 25, 2019 with the theme Mga Pinuno sa Pamana (Leaders for Heritage) through a film viewing activity with Filipino community leaders in Chile. The Embassy featured a National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) music video entitled: Sagisag, Kultura, Filipino Ako, Filipino Tayo, which showcased the many cultural sites, symbols and practices of the Philippines which contribute to Philippine identity.
In her address to the Filipino community leaders, Philippine Ambassador-designate Ma. Teresita C. Daza encouraged each Filipino leader to help in cultural promotion and in preserving and promoting Filipino cultural heritage.
The activity was organized pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 439 on the National Heritage Month, with the main goal of encouraging Filipinos in Chile to heighten their awareness, respect and love for the legacies of Filipino cultural history. The event also served as a planning activity for the Embassy’s upcoming celebration of the 121st Philippine Independence Day with the Filipino community. END
