(Santiago, 12 December 2021) – The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Chile joined Filipino community women leaders in closing the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) in a recent event held at the Philippine Chancery in Las Condes, Santiago.  The 18-day campaign with the theme: “VAW-free community starts with Me” was held from 25 November to 12 December 2021, and featured the VAW-free logo and orange motif on the Embassy’s official website and social media.  The Embassy also printed the VAW-free banner and distributed facemasks featuring this year’s theme to Filipino community members amid a continuing COVID-19 pandemic in Chile.

The event was organized as part of the Embassy’s GAD campaign and yearly engagements with the FilCom in Chile, currently estimated at 860 overseas Filipinos—approximately 95% of them women.  The activity also served as an opportunity for the Embassy to once again highlight the importance of gender equality and women empowerment with its FilCom leaders and members.
