(Santiago, 12 December 2021) – The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Chile joined Filipino community women leaders in closing the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) in a recent event held at the Philippine Chancery in Las Condes, Santiago. The 18-day campaign with the theme: “VAW-free community starts with Me” was held from 25 November to 12 December 2021, and featured the VAW-free logo and orange motif on the Embassy’s official website and social media. The Embassy also printed the VAW-free banner and distributed facemasks featuring this year’s theme to Filipino community members amid a continuing COVID-19 pandemic in Chile.
The event was organized as part of the Embassy’s GAD campaign and yearly engagements with the FilCom in Chile, currently estimated at 860 overseas Filipinos—approximately 95% of them women. The activity also served as an opportunity for the Embassy to once again highlight the importance of gender equality and women empowerment with its FilCom leaders and members. END
