(Ecuador, 26 October 2021) The Philippine Embassy in Chile successfully conducted a consular outreach mission for the Filipino community in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on 23-24 October 2021. The consular mission was the first to be organized by the Embassy since the COVID-19 pandemic largely prevented travel to and from Ecuador in 2020 as well as the earlier quarters of 2021. The Embassy was represented by Consular and ATN Assistant Mr. Jay A. Alere. He was joined by PHL Honorary Consul in Guayaquil Mrs. Corazon Oliva de Reyes, Mr. Aurelio Reyes and members of their family who assisted during the activity. The outreach mission was held at the Guayaquil’s Gold Center Hotel while fully and carefully observing local COVID-19 health, safety and social distancing protocols.
The consular mission also served as the Philippine Embassy’s and PHC Guayaquil’s end of the year meeting with Filipino leaders and members in Guayaquil, as well as an opportunity to ascertain their safety and welfare amid a still ongoing pandemic. A total of 63 Filipino nationals benefited from mobile passporting services, including Filipino seafarers and other urgent consular/ATN cases.
