28 October 2021- The Philippine Embassy organized self-defense and wellness training sessions conducted by Chilean Martial Arts instructors Lakan Guro Gabriel Erbs and Lakan Guro Victor Pino, for three consecutive Saturdays 09,16 and 23 October 2021 attended by Filipino Community members. Philippine Embassy officers and staff also joined the activity.

All of the participants were eager to learn the practical and technical know-how of kali self-defense using bamboo sticks, plastic knives and even one’s own hands to ward off aggressors. Everyone was assigned a partner to alternate as aggressor/victim, was instructed on key feet and hand movements, and  given time to practice these to prepare  and be able to defend one’s self from outside threats and unforeseen acts of violence.

The Embassy had the final “Kali” session with the same participants on 23 October 2021. As culmination of this self-defense and wellness project, a closing ceremony was held after the session where Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza awarded certificates of attendance to all participants who attended two to three sessions.  Both instructors were also provided certificates and tokens of appreciation. END
