The Philippine Embassy entertains inquiries by Chilean businessmen and importers

(Santiago, 14 December 2018) – The Philippine Embassy in Chile showcased Filipino products and presented trade and investment opportunities at the Asia Pacific Workshop held at the Icon Hotel on 14 December 2018.

The Asia Pacific Workshop is an annual activity organized by the Asia Pacific Chamber of Commerce and the Chilean government to connect local businesses and importers with foreign embassies and their trade offices in Chile.

This year’s theme “Business Opportunities in the APEC-Chile 2019” also served as Chile’s launching to the business community of its four APEC thematic priorities: a) Women, SMEs and Inclusive Growth; b) Integration 4.0; c) Digital Society; and, d) Sustainable Growth. These priorities were introduced by no less than former Chilean President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle and APEC-Chile Executive Secretary Paulina Nazal.

The Philippine Embassy distributed trade and investment materials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), as well as tourism flyers and booklets featuring Cebu and Bohol. The Embassy also entertained trade and investment inquiries from prospective South American importers and investors.

The Embassy’s showcase of Mama Sita’s sauces and mixes was a favorite among participating business owners and investors. Mr. Francisco Contreras of the Chilean company Sr. Masala, local distributor of Mama Sita’s, assisted the Embassy in promoting the popular Filipino brand and its large variety of offerings soon to be widely available in the Chilean market.

The Philippine booth also featured traditional Filipino products, such as handwoven table runners, mother of pearl products, wooden handicrafts, bags, and other examples of fine Filipino craftsmanship.

This is the Philippine Embassy’s fourth participation in the annual Asia Pacific Workshop. END
