Santiago PE officers and personnel pose with officials of PHL agencies and the founders and scientists of Kimun.
(Santiago, 22 April 2022) As part of its scientific, agricultural, trade and investment initiatives, and as an extension of the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Chile celebrated last year, the Philippine Embassy in Santiago, in partnership with the PHL Board of Investments (BOI), successfully co-hosted the first Virtual Roundtable Meeting between PHL Agencies and Kimun Biotech on 22 April 2022, 0200H (Chile time). Chargé d’Affaires Jim Tito B. San Agustin, First Secretary and Consul Dennis John Briones, Economic Assistant Josefina Abenoja, and Special Assistant to the Head of Post Paula Rodriguez represented the Embassy during the virtual event.
Kimun Biotech is a Chilean company specializing in the research and development of active compounds from Chilean endemic plants: Palo Negro and Boldo. Extracts from these plants are known for their antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-aging and anti-cancer properties. Most especially emphasized during the roundtable meeting were the active compounds’ potential for demelanization or skin whitening—which garnered high interest from local distributors.
Ms. Raquel B. Echague – Director for BOI-Resource-Based Industries Service opened the discussions by highlighting the PHL’s desire to collaborate with international partners in the healthcare and alternative medicine industries, in line with the PHL’s National Health Industry Roadmap and the Investments Priority Plan. Chargé d’Affaires San Agustin followed Dir. Echague’s remarks by reiterating the Philippines’ goals of exchanging best practices with Kimun and eventually arranging visits to Manila for joint research and business partnerships
