This was Santiago PE´s second visit to SERNAPESCA´s Regional Direstorate for Los Lagos, with the first being its initial meeting with then Regional Director Eduardo Aguilera on 08 July 2019 in preparation for a planned high-level PHL aquaculture study visit to the south of Chile on the sidelines of the 5th APEC Ministerial Meeting on Food Security on 23 August 2019.

This second meeting between Santiago PE and SERNAPESCA serves as a courtesy call to the new Regional Director Branny Montecinos as well as to reaffirm the cooperation between Post, DA-BFAR and SERNAPESCA. It also served as an opportunity to discuss and brief the new director on the progress of negotiations on the MOU on Fisheries and Aquaculture between the Philippines and Chile, and to reflect on stronger collaboration between the two countries following the first BFAR-SERNAPESCA Virtual Dialogue on 23 April 2021.
