12 June 2021- Ms. Kathbeth Kreimer, Filcom Coordinator based in Lima, Peru organized a virtual gathering attended by some 36 members of the Filipino Community in Peru together with the Embassy officers and staff, to celebrate the 123rd Anniversary of Philippine Independence. The program consisted of group singing of the National Anthem, opening prayer by Reverend Gerardo Laguartilla, reading of President Duterte´s Independence Day Message by, and brief remarks from Ambassador Daza. In her remarks, the Ambassador repeated the importance of concretely acting for the common good which in this time of pandemic meant taking care of oneself, being responsible community members observing protocols and getting vaccinated to put a stop to the further spread of the virus. Several musical performances by community members interspersed with games recalling Philippine history and culture were also held. In her concluding remarks, Ms. Kreimer expressed appreciation for the active participation of all attendees as well the opportunity to gather even virtually to recall the significance of 12 June and facets of Philippine history and culture.
