28 May 2021- As part of the Embassy´s National Security and Public Diplomacy initiatives and activities during the 75th Anniversary of Philippines-Chile Diplomatic Relations, Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza conducted an online lecture on 18 May 2021, for 59 International Relations students of the Ponticia Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago.   Ambassador Daza discussed ´´PHL Foreign Policy, ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific´´, which focused on global to bilateral levels of analysis vis-à-vis contemporary global challenges, prospective flashpoints within the Indo-Pacific, and the crucial roles of ASEAN and the PHL in this arena. She raised the current challenges (of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ensuing economic crisis/conflicts climate change, and cybersecurity), before transitioning to the Indo-Pacific as a concept and its evolution including concepts such as Free and Open Indo-Pacific and the Quad. The legal bases of PHL foreign policy, its guiding pillars and the fundamental structures of the DFA as an institution were also covered.  Finally, in order to highlight PHL foreign policy in action and to underline the importance of the 75th PHL-CHL Anniversary Year to the Chilean students, slides showcasing the history of relations and high-level exchanges between the PHL and Chile were also shared. Professor Pedro Iacobelli, Director of the Center for the ASEAN Studies, Professor Nicole Jenne, Assistant Professor and Mr. Dennis John C. Briones, Embassy´s Political Officer also attended the lecture. END
