The Philippine Embassy participated in the ASEAN Week 2020 organized by the Chile-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Municipality of La Union, Region Los Rios and Cooperativa Agrícola y Lechera de la Unión Limitada (COLUN), from 15-17 January 2020.

ASEAN Week 2020 provided a platform for the ASEAN Missions accredited in Santiago (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) to promote ASEAN and respective countries in La Union and proximate environs through a series of talks, presentations and cultural activities. This was the first time the municipality of La Union welcomed ASEAN to their community/region known as the heart land of the dairy industry of Chile.

The Philippines participated in the master class on ASEAN, exhibited Philippine crafts and products, showcased Philippine tourism destinations, joined food demonstrations as well as textile talks, held film showings and performed culturals dances, most of which drew appreciative crowds.

The Ambassador on behalf of the ASEAN Committee in Santiago spoke during the opening ceremony on 16 January 2020 where she congratulated the organizers for the laudible initiative which allowed the public and private sector of La Union to know more of ASEAN and for the ASEAN Embassies in Santiago to discover the Los Rios region and explore possible areas of collaboration.

The Ambassador also delivered remarks at the launch of the ASEAN-Chile Flag Plaza on 17 January 2020, where she explained the significance of the ASEAN flag. She also reiterated ASEAN ´s appreciation of ASEAN Week 2020 and the warm hospitality extended to all delegations.
