Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza with Embassy Staff at the inauguration of Chile’s Agricultural Expo 2019

(Santiago, 26 August 2019) - Ambassador Daza and the Embassy Staff attended the inauguration of the Chilean Agricultural Expo 2019 and launching of the National Connectivity Plan, on 26 August 2019 in Maipù, a 1-hour drive from Santiago. Now on its second year, the Expo’s grand opening had the Secretary of   Agriculture, Antonio Walker Prieto as the guest of honor together with members of the diplomatic corps, businessmen, food producers, agriculturists, academics, and the general public in attendance.

Expo Chile Agrícola 2019 is an important meeting point for public and private agricultural organizations, to create awareness and interest on the most relevant agricultural issues, such as rural development and its challenges, cooperativism, innovation and modernization, food security, among others. 

The event included the participation of other government agencies that are also involved in the development and implementation of agricultural-related services. There were ongoing lectures, panel discussions and exhibits during the event, as well as gastronomic offerings from local cheese and wine producers. A cultural presentation of folkloric dances provided entertainment to the guests during the event. END
