(Santiago, 12 June 2019) – The Philippine Embassy marked the 121^st year of Philippine Independence in a National Day Luncheon with the ASEAN Committee in Santiago (Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam), Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru) and other Latin American Embassies in Chile (Dominican Republic and Nicaragua). The event was held at the Carnal Restaurant—meaning brotherhood or close friendship in Spanish—in Vitacura, Santiago.

During her national day address, Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza highlighted the renewed positive momentum in Philippines-Chile bilateral relations especially following the successful 5^th Political Consultations between the two countries. She also spoke of the increasing bloc-to-bloc cooperation between ASEAN and the Pacific Alliance as well as Latin America.

Philippine Embassy officers and staff also conducted a flag raising ceremony at the Philippine Chancery in Las Condes prior to the luncheon. END
